Last week, I was asked to attend the first grade field trip to Kaleidoscope. I wasn't planning to go as I had a deadline for a writing contest, but when another parent had to drop out because of the awful flu that's been going around, they were one parent short . . . and desperate. Which is probably why they called me. My hubby arranged to work from home and watch our kids along with the other little girl I had previously agreed to watch while her mom attended the field trip. What a guy! Believe me, I know just how lucky I am to have him for my husband. He's awesome.
On with the trip! Since we just moved here a little over a year ago, we haven't explored the Kansas City area very much. So this was the first visit to Kaleidoscope for both me and MJ. It was totally fun. I highly recommend it to any KC visitors! I put together a little scrapblog of our experience. Enjoy!

I'm glad you were able to go - it's those little life experiences that really build great memories.
I love that scraplog thingy you use - very cool! I'd love to use it too and umm, I think you need to take pictures for it to be of value!

Sounds really similar to Discovery Gateway. Our kids love it there! They have a Sesame Street exhibit right now that we are trying to make time to visit.

How long does the Sesame Street exhibit last? We'd love to go see it while we're in Utah for the Storymakers conference. Maybe we could go together? We also want to get to the dinosaur museum and the aquarium. -

Kaleidoscope is a fun hands on museum type thing by Hallmark Cards. Hallmark is based in Kansas City, where they have a huge complex called The Crown Center. In The Crown Center, there are two hands on activity centers - Kaleidoscope (which is focused on art and creativity) and Wonderscope (which is focused on the world around us, all the different jobs people have, etc). I've only been to Kaleidoscope, which was soo much fun! I've heard that Wonderscope is pretty awesome too. The kids get assigned to work stations like the post office, bank, etc - and they learn what those people do in their jobs by actually doing it. It's for older kids. I think our school sends the 4th through 6th grade classes there. You should google them and find out more info - and if you come to visit KC, let us know & we'll all go together! -
